About Me

I grew up west of Boston in a fun neighborhood full of kids. We played tag and kickball, and stayed out until the street lights came on.

The bookmobile would come by every Tuesday during the summer. It was a rolling library and I checked out five or six books every week. My friends and I would sit on our porch and read for hours. My favorite stories were Aesop’s Fables.

My best friend Julie lived across the street. We made up stories and jokes, invented our own newspaper (The Centre Street Bugle) and wrote songs. The songs were pretty good; the singing – not so much. I loved writing poetry, especially limericks.

When I grew up I wrote lots of funny poems for family and friends. I also wrote articles, essays and poems that were published in newspapers and in an anthology, Teen Sunshine Reflections: Words for the Heart and Soul. My poetry was recognized by PEN New England with a Children’s Discovery award.

My first picture book is a collection of Halloween poems. A very talented illustrator, Tad Carpenter, created the artwork. Andrea Welch, the editor, was tremendous. I think the book came out great and I hope you like it, too.

I now live on Boston’s south shore and have several other collections of children’s poems in the works. I love reading and going to the library, but I still miss the bookmobile!
